What Is God Calling You To Do This Christmas?

What Is God Calling You To Do This Christmas?

This week’s lesson teaches our preschoolers about God sending the angel who told Mary and Joseph about the impending birth of Jesus. Boy did that news change their lives. Can you imagine hearing news like that? That news was life-changing, not just for Mary and Joseph, but for all of us. That baby born so long ago came to save the world.

This news was enough to cause fear in both Mary and Joseph. God was calling them to something bigger than they could imagine. The angel told them both to not be afraid. God had a plan. God had a plan for Mary and Joseph and God has a plan for you too.

What is God calling you to do this Christmas season that seems hard? What is God asking you to do that might be causing you fear and uncertainty? Is He calling you to share Jesus with someone that doesn’t know Him yet? Christmas is the perfect time to share the gospel with others. Is He asking you to show love to someone that has hurt you in the past? Christmas is the perfect time to love like Jesus. Does He want you to put aside what the world tells you Christmas should look like? Christmas is the perfect time to put Jesus at the center of this season. Is He calling you to give like never before in the middle of uncertain times? Christmas is the perfect time to give, with our International Missions Offering being December 13th. Is He asking you to step up as the faith builder in your home? Christmas is the perfect time to teach your children about the birth of Jesus.

Matthew 1:23 tells us, “See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which is translated ‘God is with us.’” God with us! What a good thing to remember when God is calling you to something that causes fear. No matter what God is calling you to, He is with you. He has a plan. He wants you to share Jesus with others, love each other, put Jesus first, continue to give in uncertain times and take on the role of faith builder in your home. I want to encourage you to celebrate Christmas in a new way this year, to end 2020 with open eyes and open hearts to what God is calling you to do. I can’t wait to see what God does through each of you!
