Finish Strong

Finish Strong

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

2 Timothy 4:7

2020 has been a one-of-a-kind year for sure.  As the year draws to a close, I want to encourage you to finish strong.  Let us not be found wishing away time that God has blessed us with and has plans for.  Think back to the start of this year.  Did you set any goals?  Did God reveal a “word of the year” for you to focus on?  Did you commit to memorize scripture?  Did you say you would call your parents more?  Have you been faithful to those?  It’s not too late!

I remember Pastor Marc challenging us to “Delight Ourselves in the Lord” this year.  Have we allowed COVID or the struggles of this world to distract us from the goals we set and from focusing on Jesus?

We see in God’s word that we are to indeed finish strong.  2 Timothy 4:7 states, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  So, let us not quit on the year 2020.  God still has plans for these last few weeks of the year.  God actually has plans for today!  May we be found seeking God’s will for each day (which is a gift) and striving towards the goal and the prize.  May God be glorified as we each finish out 2020.  And finish strong!

We are not promised tomorrow.  Remember that God, I AM, is the God of the present.  He is the God of today.  He is the God of 2020.  Next year might be better, it might not be.  Let us try to live each day in a manner that shines the light of Christ into this dark world we live in.  And let’s remember that James says to count these trials as joy, knowing they help us grow in character, in perseverance, and in spiritual maturity.  So, 2020 has been hard, very different and a trial for sure.  But I trust a mighty and powerful God that is still in control and I am going to do my very best to please Him each day and be found thankful.  Will you join me?

Maybe we should begin to count our blessings.  Yes, there have been blessings in 2020.  Pray and ask God to bring to your mind the many blessings of 2020.  Take some time to give thanks to God for His many blessings towards you and your family.  Let’s bring delight to the Lord as we finish strong with thankful hearts!
