Show Them We Are Christians By Our Love

Show Them We Are Christians By Our Love

Raise your hand if you thought 2021 would magically make all right in the world. Wishful thinking if we thought a flip of the calendar would make all our worries go away. There is still so much uncertainty and unknown swirling around us. It seems it is not too different than it was back in the days when Noah lived. Genesis 6:5-6 says, “When the Lord saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time, the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and he was deeply grieved.” Woah, God regretted that He made man? He was grieved by their actions? I do not want to be the one that God regrets making. I do not want to give God a reason to grieve. In verses 8-9 of the same chapter, we read that Noah found favor with God. He was a righteous man who walked with God.

The Bible lesson of Noah building the ark was always a favorite of mine as a child, and as an adult, to teach to children, but lately it has taken on a whole new meaning to me. I want to be like Noah. I want to walk with God daily. I want to find favor with God. I want to do what God tells me to do and not what the world thinks I should do. I want to build my own “ark”, whatever that may be, even if the world scoffs and makes fun of me. I want to do the right thing, even if it is not the popular thing. I want to love others, even if they seem unlovable. I want to show kindness to the unkind. I want to give to others, even if I feel like I don’t have anything to give. I want my words, my actions and my social media posts to glorify God. The world is watching us, what are we willing to show them? I have sung the song, “They Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love” more times than I can count. Is it more than a song? Do they know we are Christians? I want to live like Noah, are you willing to join me? What an example you will be to your family as you walk with God daily. Let’s show the world we are Christians by our love!
