Now Is The Time

Now Is The Time

How is 2021 going for you so far? Here we are four weeks in already. Is it going how you planned? For me personally, it is not. My family had a wedding planned for earlier in the month that had to be postponed. Everything that we had planned has been turned upside down. At first, I thought it would be a stressful time, but then I realized that God was not surprised by any of this. Proverbs 16:9 says, “A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.” My plans did not add up to what God had planned and I had to be OK with that.

I am ready to be back with my little friends, but God hasn’t opened that door yet. I am ready to hug each other and sit close to my friends on Sunday mornings. I want to leave my mask at home and see smiling faces everywhere I go. I do not understand why this virus is here. Fortunately, I don’t have to understand any of this. I just need to trust God. He tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Most of this year remains on the calendar. What do you have planned for it? More importantly, what does God have planned for it? Things may look different right now, but we can still use our time, talents, and treasures to live out God’s plans for our lives. What is God calling you to do this year? What kind of plans does He have for your family? Now is the time to follow Jesus more than ever before. Now is the time to serve others. Now is the time to pray for others. Now is the time to join a Life Team. Now is the time to keep your eyes open to what God has called you to do. 2021 may still look different than past years, but the Lord’s work is still at hand. Just remember that even if your plans fall through this year, God’s plans never will.
