Love Does

Love Does

Pastor Marc has been teaching from Matthew 7:12, which is the Golden Rule.  It states, “Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”  After spending time in God’s word, I always want to respond by being a “doer”.  It’s not enough to hear a great sermon or read some beautiful scripture, then go about our day unchanged.  As God reveals Himself and His will through the Bible, we have a choice to make.  Will we allow it to shape us to look more like Christ?  Or will we be obedient and do what it says?  I often say, “love does”.  “Love does” means that love isn’t just a feeling, it’s an action word.  True love for our fellow man takes active steps in expressing or revealing itself.

In John 13:35, Jesus says the world will know that we are His disciples by the way we love others.  So, what can we “do” to express love this week, that also lines up with treating others the way we would want to be treated?  I have a great idea!  As the seasons change and the weather gets colder, if you couldn’t afford a coat, what would you want someone to do for you?

Our monthly Dollar Days are always used to love on the people of Little Elm.  Our October Dollar Day Offering will be used to purchase coats for elementary-aged children in Little Elm who need a little help this year.  Along with our dollars, we are asking our church family to purchase and donate a new coat to express the love of the people of CrossRidge and to express the love of Jesus.  Will you join me in showing our love this month?  They need sizes 4-14 in boys’ and girls’ coats.  There is a donation box in the foyer.  I hope that you will pray about this opportunity to “do” unto some of the least of these and show that “love does”.
