Easter Is Coming

Easter Is Coming

I love the changing of the seasons.  It reminds me of what an incredible artist God is.  Spring is here and that means Easter is coming soon.  Easter is so much more than getting new clothes and shoes, going to church, finding eggs, gathering with family, and eating too much food.  Easter is a celebration that is found at the very core of Christianity.  Without Easter, our faith is empty.  But thankfully, Easter is coming, and it is real!  Easter is sometimes called Resurrection Sunday.  Easter is the day when we, as believers, celebrate that Jesus, the perfect Son of God, died on the cross and three days later rose from the dead.  He defeated death, paid the penalty for our sins, and provided a way for us to be forgiven of our sins.  Jesus died once for all, making a way for us to have a relationship with the Creator of the world!  That my friends, is worthy of celebrating.

Many of our children do not know the spiritual impact or meaning of Easter.  As parents, it is our job to teach them the things of the Lord.  I would like to invite you, as the foundational faith builder in the lives of your children, to join me in preparing your mind and heart for Easter Sunday.  The week leading up to Easter is called Holy Week.  Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday when King Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem amid praises and shouts.  How quickly things changed for Jesus.  It is a good thing as Christian parents to be reminded of what our Savior suffered for our benefit.  Knowing these things grows gratitude within us.  I am attaching a devotional guide for you to use as you think each day, pray each day, share with your children each day…leading up to the celebration that is Easter.  Share what you learn and what God reveals to you with your children.

This Sunday, at church, I am also handing out a devotional guide for parents to use as they walk through Holy Week with their children.  So, I encourage you during this Holy Week to turn your thoughts towards Jesus and what He accomplished for your family on the cross, and by His resurrection.  Read the Bible, pray, fast, attend a service, worship Him in song; let us be found being intentional during this upcoming most Holy of weeks.
