Choose Joy

Choose Joy

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4

Welcome to May! Another month has arrived while we are at home. I enjoy being able to get outside every day and I especially enjoy a good Texas sunset this time of year. How are things going at your house? Are you able to get outside and move around a bit? What about the inside of your house? How is the joy in your house? Sometimes it’s hard to find the joy when there are spills to clean up, loads of laundry to wash, toys on the floor and hungry mouths to feed, again.

When I am filled with cares, your comfort brings me joy.

Psalm 94:19

I remember growing up singing about the joy of the Lord being my strength and to rejoice in the Lord always. I just thought they were fun songs to sing about Jesus. As an adult, I finally learned that I was singing about truth. There are days when joy can be hard to find. Those are the days that we need to remember where our joy really comes from. God tells us in Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” and then in Psalm 94:19 “When I am filled with cares, your comfort brings me joy.” True joy comes from knowing God and knowing that He always loves and cares for you. If His joy is full in your life, your children will learn to be joyful through your example. Choose joy today!
