Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and “your neighbor as yourself.”
Luke 10:27
Just like that, Thanksgiving is over. The turkey has been eaten. The naps have been taken. The football games have been watched. Here we are already in December. Christmas will be here before you know it. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get frustrated with the commercialism of Christmas. Take me back to the basics! This is such a great time of the year to show God’s love to others as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Fortunately, we have opportunities here this month at CrossRidge Church to do just that.
December 6th is our monthly Dollar Day Sunday. CrossRidge is using the money from this to partner with Prison Fellowship Angel Tree. We are able to buy presents for children right here in Little Elm who have a parent incarcerated. We also have the chance to share the gospel and pray with these families and caregivers through the delivery time. What a great way to share the love of Jesus with these families. What a great opportunity to teach your children about loving others as you pray about your Dollar Day giving together as a family, sign up as part of the wrapping team or as a part of a delivery team.
December 13th is the day for our International Mission Offering. On this Sunday we will take up a special offering to help missionaries from our church directly, as well as help our partners in other parts of the world. Here is another chance to pray together as a family to ask God what He would have your family give. It is also a wonderful time to teach your children about missionaries and the work they do all over the world, especially the missionaries from our very own church.
I want to encourage you to step up and stand out as you go against what the world would have you do this month. Pray daily. Look out for ways to share Jesus with others. Let’s make sure Jesus is the center of it all. After all, He is the reason for the season!
