What Are You Thankful For?

Wow! Can you believe it is already November? What a great time to reflect on the many blessings God has poured out on us. I want to encourage you to print out the attached thankful acrostic and reflect on what you are thankful for. I will go first.

Truth – I am truly thankful for God’s word and a Pastor that preaches truth week after week, even when it convicts me. “Teach me your way, Lord, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name.” Psalm 86:11.

Heaven – Can you imagine not knowing where you were going to spend eternity? I am filled with joy because Jesus is my Savior and I will get to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. John 3:16 says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Answered prayers – I am thankful whether His answer is a yes, a no or a wait my child. What reassurance we can have knowing that God knows what is best for us. We read in Philippians 4:6, “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Neighbors – God tells us to love our neighbors. I consider all of our community my neighbor. I am thankful for the opportunities that allow me to love my neighbors and serve them. Thank you for being my neighbor!

Kids – Your kids mean the world to me. I miss teaching them about Jesus on Sunday mornings. I miss talking and laughing with them. I am looking forward to the day when we can be together in a classroom again!

Family – I am thankful for my own family, but I am also thankful for my church family. I love reading about the church in Acts 2:42 where it says, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.” I love doing life with each of you.

Universe – God’s artwork amazes me every day. Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” There is nothing better than God showing off with a Texas sunrise or sunset.

Laughter  – The sound of a good belly laugh is music to my ears, whether it comes from a baby or my 90-year-old mother!
