It’s time for March Madness! Are you excited? Do you have your favorite basketball team picked? Is your bracket filled out? Sports fans are some of the most dedicated people out there. They sit through football games in the cold and rain. They sit close to the basketball court and scream loudly to throw the opposing team off and cheer excitedly for their team. They countdown to opening day of Spring training in baseball and they go to hockey games waiting for a fight to break out. They paint their faces and wear their team’s favorite colors. It’s just crazy!
What about your enthusiasm about Jesus? How much do you cheer for Team Jesus? Do you talk to others about Jesus as much as you do sports? Do you count down the days until it’s time to go to church again? Mark 29:30 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” We are to love the Lord with all we have, all the time. We are to put Him first. We are to love God and serve Him with more enthusiasm than we show towards sports or anything of this world. In fact, Romans 12:11 tells us, “Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord.”
As the Faith Builders in the home, you are to teach your children that same zeal for the Lord. They should see you sold out for Jesus. They should know that Sundays and Wednesdays are days set aside for church. They should learn to serve others by watching you serve. They need you to teach them about Jesus because they need Jesus too. Unlike sports, there’s no off season in our faith journeys. Loving and serving Jesus, as well as teaching your children about Jesus, goes on all year, every year. There’s no need to pick a favorite team for this journey, we are all on the same team. God has put you on His team and here at CrossRidge we are on the team with you. We are cheering you on. We are here to teach your children about Jesus. We are here to help you grow in your faith. We are here to help you find a place of service. We are here for you. Go God go!
