Spicy Showdown: Annual Chili Cook-Off Success

Spicy Showdown: Annual Chili Cook-Off Success

So far, October may feel more like July, but that didn’t stop us from getting into the fall spirit with what is arguably the season’s best food.

Onions, chili powder, cumin, (beans?), juicy ground chuck! That’s right. Last weekend was the annual Chili Cook-off here at Crossridge, and those who competed certainly brought the heat.

The smack talk surrounding the contest was as spicy as some of the pots of chili. Though, since Pastor John Wolfe recused himself from competing, citing lack of space on his chili trophy wall, the smack talk was a bit more bearable than in years past.

All in all, 25 pots of chili were judged by our intrepid panel of judges: John Wolfe, Cheryl Fields, Lee Henderson, Andrea Weinstein, and Jorge Rivas. (We thank you for your service and hope you had TUMS on hand.)

As the judges sampled the competing pots of chili, people enjoyed the chili and other dishes, including macaroni and cheese and spaghetti.

Congratulations to this year’s winners!
