The rain may have flooded DFW, but it couldn’t dampen our spirits because Student Camp 2024 was a ringing success!
Thirteen leaders and 58 kids traveled to Mt. Lebanon in Cedar Hill, TX, for an unforgettable experience. Camp was filled with spiritual growth, fun activities, and memorable moments that we know students will carry with them for years to come.
Spiritual Milestones
As camp leaders, we were honored to witness:
- 2 Salvations
- 7 Recommitments
- 40+ Repentance Prayers
- 4 Called to Ministry
Breakout Sessions
The breakout sessions were incredibly impactful, addressing crucial topics such as evangelism, broken families, sharing the gospel, sexual identity, and missions. These sessions provided biblical teachings that resonated deeply with the students.
Church Group Time
Church group time was a highlight, featuring dance battles, fit checks, and sharing daily journeys. Most importantly, it was a time to witness how God was strengthening the bonds between students and leaders.
Fun in the Rain
Despite the rain, spirits remained high. One of the most memorable activities was cage soccer in the rain, which turned into a fun mud pit adventure right outside our cabin. This quickly became a student favorite.
When the rain kept us indoors, we didn’t miss a beat. A 34-person Binho tournament was organized, with Jaxx Weinstein emerging as the first-ever CRC Student Champion of Binho. Other indoor activities like Uno, Monopoly, and various games kept everyone entertained.
Dedicated Leaders
Our team of leaders was a mix of veterans and first-timers, all sacrificing time away from their families and jobs to serve the student ministry. Their dedication and unity were evident as they worked together to pour into the students’ lives.
Exciting Camp Activities
Campers enjoyed a variety of activities, including:
- Ropes course
- Swimming area
- Zip line
- Basketball courts
- Gaga ball pits
- Caged soccer
- Climbing wall
Inspirational Speakers
We were privileged to have Christian comedian Jason Earls and Christian rapper Dillon Chase as our speakers. They challenged the 800+ students to resist the pull of self-worth and worldly gains, connecting with this generation in a remarkable way.
Sports Achievements
Our high school students showcased their athletic prowess by taking first place in basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball. The future looks bright with such a deep bench and strong farm system coming up!
Overall Camp Vibes
The overall vibe of the camp was one of unity and spiritual growth. God brought together different students for the purpose of advancing the gospel and growing closer to him through his word and fun activities. The camaraderie developed during this camp will be something we look back on in a few years, celebrating the growth among this group of kids.
Until next year, thanks for a great camp, CrossRidge Students!
