I was so thankful to be able to worship through our online services during the Stay-at-Home Order. I was even more thankful when June rolled around and just like Psalm 122:1 says, “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let’s go to the house of the Lord.’” Our technology team has done a fabulous job of bringing CRC into our homes, but there is nothing better than being in God’s house with God’s people to hear God’s truth. Things are still different with the social distancing in place and a touch-free environment, but it feels so much better starting the week in church. I don’t know about you, but I need to be around God’s people, even if it’s from 6 feet away!

As the faith builder in your home, being in church with your family allows you another opportunity to share worship with your children. It may not always be easy to worship with little ones, but it will always be worth it. There are even things that you can do ahead of time to help prepare them for service. You can practice with them at home and let them know what to expect. You can print out the Bible lesson and have it ready for them to do. You can bring a device with a headset so they can listen to the videos that go along with the lesson. You can even come see Ms. Kellie to get a special treat for a little extra encouragement.

Luke 18:16 says, “Jesus, however, invited them: ‘Let the little children come to me, and don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’” Jesus says to bring the children. Will they be quiet the whole time? Probably not. The adults even have a hard time with that sometimes. Will they sit still? Doubtful, and that’s ok too. Will they need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the service? Of course they will. Will they benefit from seeing mom and dad worship in church? Absolutely!

I look forward to seeing you and my little friends soon.

In striving for a touch-free church experience, please plan to print these activities ahead of time, if you plan for your child to complete them during Sunday services.  Remember pens and crayons too, please.
