It’s still October and I am still in love with all things Fall. I love drinking coffee outside on the cooler mornings. I love baking breads and muffins this time of year. I love watching football every Saturday afternoon, and please, give me all of the soup. The best part about all of these things is that they are easy to share!
Pastor Marc is knee deep in Galatians on Sunday mornings. This past Sunday he preached on how our freedom in Christ leads to serving and loving others. We read about this in Galatians 5:13 that says, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another.” Our freedom that comes from Jesus is freedom to serve, not to sin. It is freedom to give, not get. Fortunately, as Pastor Marc reminded us, we serve and love others in God’s strength, power and wisdom, not our own.
Fall is the perfect time of year to teach your children to serve and love others. As the faith builder in your home, take advantage of this season to bake and cook for others. Let your children see your faith in action as you spend time with God’s people breaking bread together. God wants us to be known for what we do, not for what we don’t do.
