As parents, there are many titles that you have. There is personal shopper, chef, and chauffeur. There is activity coordinator, homework tutor, and house cleaner. You certainly can’t forget referee, cheerleader, and fashion consultant. You’re the encourager, storyteller, and nurse on call. These are all such an important part of the parenting journey, but do you know the most important role in parenting? Do you know the title that is life saving for your children? Do you know how much of an influence you truly have in your home? The title of Faith Builder in your home is your greatest calling.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 tells us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Teaching your children about Jesus is the most important job you have. Parenting can be hard and even overwhelming at times, but it is the most rewarding job. There is nothing more important than making sure your children know that they are sinners in need of a Savior. There is nothing more important than sharing that Jesus died for their sins and wants to be their Savior. And there is nothing more rewarding than knowing that your children have accepted Jesus as Lord of their lives and knowing that you get to spend eternity in Heaven together.
So, how is that going? Are they seeing you spend time with God daily? Are they watching you as you pray? Are you coming to church together each week? Are you spending time together as a family in the Bible? Are you letting them see you love the Lord your God with all your heart? It can seem like a daunting task. I’m here to remind you how important of a task this is. I’m here to remind you that you can do this. I’m here to remind you that you are not alone. We are here for you. We are on this journey together. We want your kids to know Jesus too. Let’s embrace this role together. Eternity is at stake. Our children need Jesus.
