It is almost the middle of June already. Summer is just coasting by. What about you, are you just coasting by? What does this time of year look like for you? Do you slow down a bit and enjoy the lazy days of summer? Do you see it as an opportunity to play more with the kids or even travel more? Or do you see it as a time to evaluate how your year is going and making sure you are staying on track to what God has called you to do this year?
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” We are created by God, for God. God created you with a plan. Are you following that plan? This past year or so has really shaken things up, but our goal of loving and serving others should still be intact. People still need Jesus.
We are called to love and serve those in our home. Cooking, cleaning, and laundry isn’t always fun, but it is loving and serving. We are called to love and serve those in our community. Helping those in need around us is a great way to show God’s love. We are called to love and serve those in the local church. Greeting, teaching, and showing hospitality are all great ways to love those at church.
1 Corinthians 12:4 tells us, “Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit.” We aren’t all called to do the same thing, but we do all have gifts. What does that look like for you? How are you using the gifts God gave you? Is there anything that you can do differently these last six months of the year to be the hands and feet of Jesus? Let’s join together and commit to doing the good works that God has called us to do.
