I love Fall. I love the cooler weather. I love to watch football. I love the Fall decorations and I love pumpkins. I have so many pumpkins around my house right now. When my kids were little we would carve and decorate pumpkins. They would take turns spooning out the inside so the pumpkins could be turned into something new and creative. They were always so excited when it was time to put a candle in and admire their masterpiece.
You have been called to be the faith builder in your home. While it is not always an easy task, it is an important one. You may not always feel qualified for this job, but God has chosen you to lead your family in this role. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” We read in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” After reading this, you could easily compare yourself to a pumpkin. God has handpicked you to be the faith builder for your family. He has cleaned out all of the yucky and filled you with His light to shine for your loved ones. You are His masterpiece. I want to encourage you to embrace this role this week and realize what a vital part of parenting this is. I am here to walk alongside of you as you teach your preschooler about Jesus and help them fall in love with Him. I want to encourage you to print out the resources provided each week online and include their lesson in your family worship time. If you are worshiping in person, be sure to grab an activity packet at church for your child to work on during the service, but also to go over at home with you. Hopefully, one day your preschooler will grow up and be able to compare themselves to a pumpkin too. They will be made new in Christ and shine His light to others, and you will see the rewards of being the faith builder in your home.
