Great to be Back!

Great to be Back!

What an awesome night we had with our students this past Wednesday. Over 70 students and over 20 adult leaders showed up to our first student event since March 11. What a blessing it was to see so many familiar faces and to see new faces as well. Well, not faces exactly. Everybody was wearing masks and social distancing but at least we got to see everyone after being apart for so long.

Usually, by now, we have had an event called Sneak Peek where incoming 7th graders get a chance to get a peek into Student Ministry. A time to go out and have some fun with some of our older students. A time to get to know others before Promotion Sunday. This helps new students to not be anxious or nervous about going into a new ministry.

Every year around this time, after Sneak Peek, we have Promotion Sunday. A time where all of our kids in all our ministries move up to the next age group or grade. It is a time of celebration and excitement and a time to meet new teachers and new classmates. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to do this either.

However, this year we did things differently. We had Student Night! Student Night was not just a night to welcome back students but to also welcome our new 7th graders. We are excited to see them and have them be a part.

It was a great night with our Worship Team kicking it off by leading us through music. They did an amazing job. Sheila Wolfe, our Director of Children’s Ministry, got a chance to say good-bye to her former 6th graders and wish them well. I got the chance to welcome our new 7th graders into our ministry and welcome back so many more. I also got a chance to share a message from God’s Word.

Afterward, we went outside where some of our finest volunteers prepared and served hot dogs, chips, and drinks to our students and other adult leaders. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful group of adult leaders who are eager to serve wherever they are needed.

It is evident, more than ever, how much we need each other. Although technology has come a long way in keeping us connected, it can never replace meeting together, face to face. We must continue to pray for our church, community, nation, and the world that one day we can meet together again as God has called us to.

Thank you to all of the parents for letting your students come and be a part of CrossRidge Church.
