Follow The Leader

Follow The Leader

Did you enjoy playing the game follow the leader when you were a child? Following the leader as an adult is a whole new game. I don’t know about you, but I am pretty excited about our new sermon series. I loved hearing about Joshua and the journey to get to the Promised Land. I love the instruction, hope and encouragement that we get from God’s stories. I loved being reminded of how faithful God is to fulfill His promises.

What I love most is knowing that God is still the leader that needs to be followed. God is calling us to follow Him, just like Joshua did. God spoke to Joshua and God still speaks to us today through the Holy Spirit. God is writing His story in our lives, just like He did for Joshua and God has assured our victory, just like He did for Joshua.

God told Joshua in Joshua 1:5-6, “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.” God is telling us today that He is still with us. God wants us to be strong and courageous too. He wants us to walk by faith, even when it gets uncomfortable. God still brings walls down today.

What walls do you have in your life that need to come down? Is it fear? Anger? Loneliness? Bitterness? What walls in your life are holding you back from following your leader? What step of faith is God asking you to take?  God has given us our marching orders. It is time to take that first step. It is time to start marching. It is time to follow the leader.
