Gratitude with a Slice of Garlic Bread

We’re proud to have been able to bless the Little Elm Public Works department with lunch with the Dollar Days giving in the month of May. We are grateful for the opportunity to show appreciation for the hard-working men and women who serve the Town of Little Elm in so many important ways.

The Little Elm Public Works Department is responsible for a variety of essential services; these unsung heroes basically keep our town running smoothly! Department divisions include Stormwater Management, Streets, Waste Water (collections, treatment), Fleet, Water Division (water operations, water quality), and Solid Waste (trash and recycling). They also organize the Clean & Green event twice a year and operate the Little Elm Courtesy Drop Off where residents can drop off metal, brush and tree limbs, cooking oils, cardboard, general waste, furniture, mattresses, and box springs.

Dollar Days giving for the month of May was $1,020. On May 9, we bought and served lunch for the 50 employees of the Public Works Department. Lunch was from Joe’s Pizza and included 10 large pizzas, baked ziti, chicken parmesan, salad, bread, water, and Gatorade. We hope that by providing them with a delicious meal, we were also able to give them a well-deserved break from their hard work. Who knows, maybe next time we’ll get to ride along on the garbage truck or help fix a pothole! (Just kidding, we’re not sure anyone would trust us with that.)

Special thanks to Connections Minister Al Gaines who worked closely with Jenny Glinka, Admin of the Public Works Department, to coordinate the event.

You can learn more about the important work the department does for the Town of Little Elm on the Public Works Department’s website. We are honored to have been able to serve those who serve our community so well.
