A Flavor Fiesta – Salsa Sunday Recap

Flavors meet fellowship: the second annual Salsa Sunday was a resounding success!

Salsa enthusiasts from near and far(ish) converged to showcase their spicy culinary prowess and compete for the coveted titles of Best Green, Best Red, and Best Overall salsa.

The competition was fierce as 16 delectable salsas were entered into the contest, each vying for the judges’ taste buds’ attention. From mild to fiery, the array of flavors represented a true testament to the creativity and talent within the CrossRidge community.

After much deliberation and sampling, the panel of judges, including Amy Wiese, Josh Bergman, Lizet Salinas, Alfredo Benitez, and Pancho Renteria, crowned the winners:

Best Green: Augustina Carillo

Best Red: Luke Weinstein

Best Overall: Tere Rodriguez

The atmosphere was electric as attendees indulged in an abundance of tortillas, chips, rice, beans, and extra salsa provided generously by Alfredo Benitez of Mi Luna Tex-Mex. Benitez not only supplied the mouthwatering treats but also graciously contributed prizes for the winners, adding an extra layer of excitement.

Special thanks to CrossRidge en Español for hosting the event! Thanks also to Kyle Stone and Kellie Walker for their dedication in leading the setup and cleanup ensured that the event ran smoothly. And, of course, a big thank you to everyone who contributed a dish or dessert!

Salsa Sunday was not only a celebration of culinary delights but also a beautiful expression of so many of the things the CrossRidge community cherishes: food, fellowship, laughter, and love.
