Parenting is one of the hardest jobs, but also one of the most rewarding jobs. In fact, Psalm 127:3 says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Unfortunately, there are some days that children don’t necessarily feel like a reward. Truth be told, some days, parenting is downright hard. One thing we do know though, is how important parenting is and how important it is to parent God’s way.

Parenting the world’s way is one thing, but biblical parenting is a whole new level. The world would have you believe how important it is to make sure that your children are happy and have everything they think they want. As Christians though, we want to use God’s word to guide us as we raise our families. We want God’s word to lead and guide us and in turn, lead and guide our children. Parenting is a full time job, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 tells us, “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” We know by following these guidelines, we can’t just bring them to church on Sundays and do a family devotional a few times a week and think that will take care of everything in the parenting department. Every day we are called to use God’s word to shape their hearts and minds. We are to teach them God’s word, not just so they will behave, but so they will fall in love with Jesus, want to be more like him and one day call Him their Lord and Savior.  What a daunting task this is, but we must remember that we do not parent alone. God is with us and He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us. You also have your church family on this journey too. We love to teach your children about Jesus on Sundays and Wednesdays and look forward to seeing them each week. We love our Life Teams where parents can grow,  share and go through the ups and downs of life together. We love taking your kids to camp and seeing them at Vacation Bible School. We want you to succeed on this parenting journey. We are praying for you and cheering you on. Now it’s time for you to do your part.
