Back to school! Back to school! The Summer seemed to fly by and now it is time for the kids to start a new school year. There are some that are happy about that and some that are not. There are new school supplies and new school clothes. There are new teachers and new classrooms. There are new schedules and new friends. A new school year can bring about a lot of change and that can be overwhelming sometimes. Instead of letting the start of the school year bring your family stress, how about we let God be in control of everything that this new school year brings.
Let’s make this school year a Proverbs 16:3 school year. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Let’s commit this school year to the Lord. Let’s commit our families to the Lord. Let’s commit our lives to the Lord. Before your calendar gets full and the car pool line gets long, let’s make teaching our children about Jesus and taking them to church a priority. Before the sports schedules take over and the birthday party invitations go out, let’s set boundaries within our families so that God has the top spot. Let’s teach them how important a relationship with Jesus is before the world teaches them that it is not.
The things of the world are causing anxiety and stress in the lives of our children like never before. There is so much confusion going on out there. Let’s make Sundays and Wednesdays a time for being in God’s house with God’s people to help combat that. Let’s teach them that God comes before sleepovers and extra-curricular activities. Let’s teach them the peace of Jesus and John 14:27 that says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Let’s join together and make this the best school year yet! See you Sunday.
