The calendar is telling us that it is Spring time, even if the temperature outside doesn’t match. We know that the warmer temperatures will soon follow and just like previous years, Spring will bring us greener grass and blooming flowers. Yes, with just the right amount of sun and water, we will see new growth all around us. We can also see new growth in ourselves. Yes, with just the right amount of time with God and His word we will be able to grow. Psalm 1:1-3 says, “How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
It is easy to look ahead to Summer as it gets warmer outside knowing that school will let out and vacations will begin, but let’s embrace Spring and all of the reminders that it brings. Spring is a good time to remember that we are new creations in Christ as we look around at all of the new flowers and greenery. Spring is a good reminder that God’s mercies are new every morning just like the new sunrise of each day. Spring also brings us Easter, which is the best reminder of John 3:16 that tells us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Let’s all embrace Spring together. Let’s use this time to grow. Let’s use this time to embrace each new day that God gives us. Let’s use this time to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others. Happy Spring!
