As some of you might know, the first Sunday of each and every month CrossRidge Church prayerfully harnesses the power of a single dollar to make an impact on the community of Little Elm, and I am so excited to share with you what we were up to the month of December! Given that it’s the most wonderful time of the year, it only makes sense that we just had to spread some Christmas cheer! We decided to give to Prison Fellowship Angel Tree.
Angel Tree Prison Fellowship reaches out to children of prisoners with the love of Christ and seeks to meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Kids with parents in jail often wonder if their parents love them, and this ministry is an awesome way to show them that they do, and that their heavenly Father loves them even more!
As a church, we gave $1,735 on December 1st! It’s truly so amazing to see how much we can raise just by everyone giving a dollar! 100% of this money went straight to buying toys and clothes for children who have a parent or two who is incarcerated. Angel Tree Prison Fellowship wants every kid to have a Christmas gift so the door can be opened for them to hear the good news of the Ultimate Gift – Jesus Christ, and CrossRidge wants that for these kids too.
A group of 6 amazing women did all of the gift shopping (#GirlPower), twelve awesome volunteers helped wrap all the gifts on December 15th, and eighteen servant-hearted families helped deliver all of these gifts December 16th-21st, as well as one on December 28th. Overall, 30 children total amongst 14 families were able to have Christmas presents and be blessed by this amazing organization partnered with our church’s dollar day!
If you’ve ever doubted your ability to make a difference for the Kingdom, know God can do more with a dollar than we ever could on our own apart from Him with a million dollars. Dollar Day is a beautiful way we can faithfully love thy neighbor as a church family and I hope you can join me in prayer by asking God to shine His love through Dollar Day every single month!
