Amazing Summer of Camps

Amazing Summer of Camps

From Denton, Texas to Glorieta, New Mexico, we have experienced some amazing moments through camps this summer through Mini Camp, Preteen Camp, and Student Camp. Forty-seven adults and 169 children from 1st grade to 12th grade went on camps with CrossRidge Church this year. We saw 17 salvations, 15 rededications, and 3 calls to ministry.

This was one of the years that some parents dream about. Our Preteen and Student camps lined up to be on the same week in July, giving parents an opportunity to be home without the kids.

Mini Camp

Our 1st and 2nd graders were off to Mini Camp for an overnight trip at Camp Copass that lets them get a taste of what it is like to be away from home and what it is like to be at summer camp. It’s an action-packed, overnight stay of craziness that feels like a week of camp packed into 1 day.

That 1 day included swimming, snow cones, candy, Gaga ball, Basketball, Putt-Putt, crafts, bounce houses, Jesus and so much more.

Six courageous adults from our church took 27 campers this year. God bless them!

Preteen Camp

Our Preteen camp went to Camp Copass where they braved the Texas heat, giggled, laughed, ate too much candy, went on adventures, lost stuff, found stuff, met new people, made a lot of memories and learned a lot about Jesus. Ten brave adults spent the week with 72 kids from CrossRidge.

To help out Camp Copass, 21 other adults came from our church to volunteer at Camp Copass during the day to lead these treks: basketball, football, jewelry making, sewing, Legos, fishing, Gaga ball, indoor cooking, art, shooting gallery and canvas art. More fish were caught during the week our volunteers led it than any other week for the last nine years of camp! The kids had a great time and so did the adults.

Our kids not only got to do a lot of activities like these, but they also got to hear a lot about Jesus. Our church saw 14 salvations and 3 rededications during the week. These children’s lives are changed for eternity.

Student Camp

Looking to get away, our students (7th -12th grade) went to Glorieta, New Mexico to M3 Camp, hosted by our own Southern Baptist of Texas Convention. In all, over 1700 students from several states gathered together in the mountains to praise His name. Each day our students took part in 2 worship services, breakout sessions, organized rec, small group time, and a chance to just hang out with each other. CrossRidge sent 70 students with 10 adults.

Glorieta offers some of its own unique activities. The best of all the organized rec was mud day. The students took the opportunity to do something we have all been told not to do; play in the mud. From the mud pit to mud soccer, students and adults alike played, laughed, fell down, got up, fell down again, and left with memories for a lifetime.

When they weren’t in the mud put, they had other things to do as well. Glorieta offers several hiking trails, zip lines, snow tubing in the summer, mountain biking, BMX biking, 3-wheel slick tracks, Gaga ball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and, maybe the best of all, summer mountain weather. They also have a lake area where you can swim, run through a water obstacle course, jump on a blob or be blobbed, monkey bar or zip line into the lake and more.

This group also got to see lives changed forever. We saw 3 salvations, 12 rededications, and 3 calls to ministry. Go God Go!

Thank you

God continues to do His work in His church and through our Children and Student ministries. Without your support, we would not be able to do any of this. Thank you to all who gave of your time to go, to all the parents, and to all of those that lent your support.
