Stocking LEFD Pantries

Stocking LEFD Pantries

Over the course of a week, $1,395 of grocery items were bought for the fire stations of Little Elm Fire Department. The dollars from February’s Dollar Days purchased over 400 grocery items which helped to stock all 3 fire stations including the new fire station on Navo Road in the Union Park subdivision off of 380.

We contacted LEFD in January and asked them if we could use our February Dollar Day dollars to buy items they needed and they responded with a resounding “YES!” Firefighters are required to stay at the fire station for days at a time depending on rotation schedules. Even though they are required to stay they are still responsible for their own meals. To help keep their personal costs down they all chip in and buy grocery items for their station. Our Dollar Day dollars helped them offset this cost while they continue to stand ready to help the community when the call comes in.

The Delivery

Finally, after a week of purchasing and separating, we packed up 3 vehicles and delivered all of the items to the Little Elm Central Firestation off of Eldorado Parkway on Tuesday morning. While we were getting the grocery items bought and separated, our Children’s Ministry got involved in the action too by creating banners for each of the stations which were delivered along with the groceries. When we arrived with the groceries and banners, we were greeted with lots of help to unload, smiles and many “Thank Yous“.
