I don’t know about you, but this past Sunday’s service was especially moving for me. To see the connection that we have with the believers in Antioch, all the way up until today! God’s church has always been a sending church and we get the privilege of being a part of it!
The goal is to be a “sending” church and not a church that sent last year.
One question that came to my mind as I was sitting in that service was… who is going to be next? A year from now, who from our church will we be sending out? The goal is to be a “sending” church and not a church that sent last year.
One of the passages that Marc highlighted was Matt 9:37-38 when Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
This past Sunday, the Lord laid on my heart two things: I need to pray for the harvest field and I need to pray for more laborers from our church.
Pray for the Harvest Field
A while back, I signed up for an email newsletter from Operation World that sends a prayer update for a different country every day. It gives you stats about the people groups and how you can pray for them specifically. Sadly, I admit that too often I let those emails get lost in the shuffle and they get passed over and deleted without a second thought. I have recommitted to taking a moment to pray each day for the people group of the day and that the Lord would send out workers to each country. If you would like to join me in praying for the nations and asking the “Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” you can do so at Operation World . Let’s be a praying church and being a part of the nations being reached for Jesus!
pray for more laborers
The second thing the Lord laid on my heart was to pray for our church. That God would continue to speak and call out more from our family to go be sent out for Him. To leave the comfortable and step out in faith, to see God work through them. To go to the nations that are right here in our community. To go to the nations that need to hear about Jesus in another country or context. To join a CRC mission trip next year and be the hands and feet of Jesus. Who will be the next ones we are sending out?
Will it be you? I hope so!
